On 5th September, 2026, the Ethel-Esther Team hosted its flagship annual outreach, Ethel-Esther Day 2026: Pad-A-Girl Initiative, at the ICS Hall, ECWA College of Nursing Sciences, Egbe, Kogi State. Established in honor of mission pioneers Ethel Titcombe and Esther Campion, the Ethel-Esther Team models its vision after the National Florence Nightingale Contest, fostering academic excellence, leadership, character development, and selfless service among nursing students. Operating under the theme “Beyond the Pad: Empowering Every Girl for a Healthier Tomorrow,” this year’s event transcended basic sanitary relief to deliver a comprehensive platform centered on health education, bodily autonomy, personal dignity, and youth empowerment.

The program drew significant participation from across the Egbe community and its surrounding regions. Honored guests included the management and staff of both the ECWA College of Nursing Sciences and ECWA Hospital, Egbe. Student delegations and teachers attended from local secondary institutions, including Titcombe College and George Campion Academy, alongside youth representatives from several churches, including ECWA Chapel of Blessing, CAC Canaan Land, Christ Life Dominion Church, and RCCG Fulfilment Zone.

Designed to address both the practical and social dimensions of menstrual health, the initiative combined rigorous health education with interactive learning. Expert-led sessions addressed proper menstrual hygiene management, debunking widespread cultural myths, and encouraging open dialogue to eliminate the persistent stigma surrounding menstruation. Practical demonstrations provided young girls with vital knowledge regarding product choice, safe usage, and hygienic disposal practices. To further promote engagement and academic development, the outreach featured spirited trivia sessions and educational games, concluding with the presentation of prizes and awards to outstanding participants.

Beyond the academic and health components, the gathering incorporated spiritual encouragement and a look into the movement’s legacy through an inspirational video presentation from Ethel-Esther alumnae—the original pioneers of the Pad-A-Girl Initiative. The event culminated in the distribution of complete hygiene kits and sanitary products to all participating schools and attendees. Ethel-Esther Day 2026 successfully reinforced the principle that every young girl deserves unhindered access to health education and basic sanitary care, empowering participants to navigate adolescence with confidence, pride, and uncompromised dignity.

This impactful event was fully sponsored by the Egbe Medical Mission (EMM), whose unwavering support made this initiative possible. The organizers, participants, and entire community extend their heartfelt gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to Egbe Medical Mission and their generous donors. Your dedicated partnership, benevolent contributions, and selfless commitment to uplifting the youth continue to bring hope, dignity, and transformational change to countless young lives in Egbe and beyond.
