SOCIOLOGY LECTURER

Position Summary

The College is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Sociology Lecturer to join its faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching sociology courses to students in the college’s nursing and midwifery programs, conducting research, and contributing to the development of the college’s academic programs.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate sociology courses to students, ensuring that students gain a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.
  • Conduct research in the field of sociology, publishing papers and presenting findings at conferences to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field.
  • Participate in the development and review of the college’s academic programs and curriculum, ensuring that they align with the needs of the nursing profession and the college’s mission.
  • Develop and administer assessments and evaluations to measure student learning outcomes and program effectiveness.
  • Participate in college activities, such as committee work, mentorship, and community engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the College Management and Governing Council.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Preferred first degree in Sociology. A master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  • Applicant must have post graduate diploma in education (PGDE) or professional diploma in education (PDE).
  • A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience at the tertiary level, preferably in a nursing or health-related institution.
  • A strong research background, with a track record of publishing papers and presentation at conferences.
  • Excellent communication, pedagogical and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with students, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Be proficient in basic computer skills.
  • Applicant must not be more than 45 years old.
